What you’ll learn
What’s included?
This is a ten-week program for a reason. Every week has a purpose and moves you toward your personalized and repeatable revision roadmap.
-
We go over what to focus on during developmental edits in a short video. There’s a bonus video going covering the plot grid templates in the spreadsheet.
You will also get access to eight resources to reference.
-
We read and summarize chapter one. There’s an opportunity to share your summary with the group to get feedback/questions!
-
We go over line edits and what to look for during those passes in a short video. You will also swap three pages of your manuscript with someone else and practice line editing.
You will have access to five resources to use for line edits.
-
You will line edit three pages of your own manuscript and send it to me for feedback.
-
We cover copy editing for consistency in a short video. I will teach you how to use a style sheet to keep track of details for your story.
You will have access to four resources for copy editing (in addition to a sample style sheet in the spreadsheet).
-
We brainstorm sections you might need for your style sheet.
-
We will construct a loose timeline for your read and summary.
-
We go over your strengths and weaknesses as a writer so you know where to put your focus.
-
We take everything we have gone through and decide where you need to start your revisions.
This if the first week you are able to schedule your 30-minute call with me for any questions before we wrap up the program!
-
We create your revision roadmap!
This is the last week you have the chance to have your 30-minute call with me for any final questions or concerns before the program ends!
This is truly the best thing I have ever created.
Not only are revisions where your story comes to life—revisions are where you become a better WRITER. Period.
You become a better writer by going through your work and finding what worked and what didn’t.
You become a better writer by looking at other’s writing and learning from it.
You become a better writer by showing up for yourself through every stage of the process.
The Revision Roadmap Program is for:
First time authors who have never done revisions before - this is your step-by-step method to success
Authors who found past revision rounds rough - this is how you smooth out your process
Authors who are not getting professional edits - this is your next best option
What students are saying:
“PS the revision roadmap is amazing and just what I needed.”
“I really liked this exercise. I think looking at someone else’s work is super helpful and I’m ready to tackle mine.”
The Bottom Line
This isn't a bunch of information you can Google—this is information from a professional editor plus implementation.
In ten weeks, you will learn the techniques of a professional editor, receive and give feedback to the other writers in the group to practice what you learn, and walk away with a personalized plan to make your story shine!
At Chats and Chapters, everything I do is for the stories.
I'm a book editor with a passion for teaching and a ridiculous good eye for details!
This program is designed to give you a look inside my brilliant brain. It is your step-by-step guide to self-editing with a plan and confidence.

FAQs
How will we receive the information?
The entire program is ran through an app on your phone. You will receive an invitation to join the day before the program starts. This will give you access to all of the trainings, resources, videos, messaging and calls with me toward the end of the program.
The main resource will be your revision roadmap, it is a spreadsheet that you will fill out over the ten weeks.
Will we still need professional editing after completing this course?
That will 100% depend on you! I always suggest getting at least one editing service done with a professional—depending on your weakness(es)—to have an extra set of eyes on your story. You go through your story so many times, you become blind to even the most obvious issues.
That being said, this program gives you a look inside my brain so you are able to make your manuscript the very best it can be on your own.
Will we be able to ask questions?
Yes! Every week I will post in the Community Chat and you have the opportunity to ask questions and talk with the other authors in the group!
Do I have to have a completed first draft to join?
Yes. The program is built around using your draft and the trainings to create your revision roadmap.
